SCS CEO AND FOUNDER STEPS DOWN Featured

Kolbeinn Einarsson, SCSHelen Russell, CEO and founder of SCS, is stepping down from her job. Russell will remain in an advisory role at the Santa Monica, Calif.-based Dynamics Nav reseller. Her CEO slot is being over by Kolbeinn Einarsson, an Icelander who came from Advania, an IT operation based that operates in Scandinavia where he was EVP and VP of business development. Russell founded SCS in 1979 and sold it to Iceland-based Kogun in 2006.

She is one of the least visible leaders of a major VAR around. I spoke to her once nearly 20 years ago and cannot find a picture of her on the SCS site or her LinkedIn page. Kogun and Sothun (the "th" is how I would represent the Icelandic symbol), merged in 2006 and were taken over in 2011. I tried to track this once before and it was like reading an old Norse Saga – the trail of corporate entities was hard to follow. The 2013 Advania annual report shows Kogun is for sale, but I'm not sure SCS is still in that unit and the web-based financial reports for Advania are among the most difficult of web-based systems I have worked with - slow to load and clumsy navigation. I have asked SCS twice over the past few months, including in reply the announcement of the new CEO, about Kogun's status and gotten no response. The one thing we can know for sure is that Kolbeinn's father is named Einar (based on Icelandic naming conventions).
