DYNAMICS SL 2011 HATCHES

Microsoft has rolled out the latest of its releases on the traditional Dynamics line this month with the announcement of Dynamics SL 2011, which follows Dynamics GP 2010 earlier this year. Musing over the contacts who thought the week's announcement was going to be about CRM Online, looking back I realized that SL is not the top concern of the people I was talking to. Win some, etc.

But given the fact that there's been little announced this year besides CRM, well. ... On the SL side, one of the most useful sounding new features is the activity pane essentially a to-do list that will show what work needs to be performed for the day, such as which payables need to be paid and receivables received.  The system has a quick query feature for performing look ups and a new document management capability enables users to link documents to SL-based entities. There is also a multi-company feature that provides the ability to keep multiple companies open and toggle between windows, without closing the screens. Technically, there's no limit on the number that can be kept open simultaneously, although I suppose screen clutter would produce a "Where's Waldo?" effect and provide practical limits.
