XERO TO GET NEW ZEALAND COMPETITOR Featured

Pete Sanders, ReckonXero, which has moved into the world market from New Zealand, is going to get a competitor for the low-end accounting market. Reckon, which for years was the QuickBooks distributor in Australia, has launched its owned online accounting application, Reckon One. And the company says the cloud package for small businesses " will be available in New Zealand soon." Reckon One is available for free trial and it is positioned as enabling business users to choose and pay for only the parts of the program they need to use."

Pete Sanders, managing director of Reckon's Business Group, said in a prepared statement that the module design means "There's no longer a big set of features they need to purchase as part of a package, a user can simply choose the parts of the program they need, we call this designed by you." The initial release of Reckon One features the Core module for recording receipts and payments; Invoicing, for creating invoices; Projects, a project management tool for tracking costs; and Reckon BankData, for receiving transactions directly from connected bank accounts. Core module pricing starts at $5 per month, Australian. That's about $4.70 a month in American dollars.
