SAGE SHIFTS PRO AND PFW

Laurie SchultzSage North America has taken its Sage Pro and PFW accounting software products out of the "Value" organization they were placed in two years ago and placed them in the Mid-Market Enterprise Division under VP Laurie Schultz. The announcement talked about aligning internal resources, providing more product choices and giving resellers a chance to grow their business.

But this is primarily about one issue, trying to migrate end users from the two products to others in the Sage line up. The second paragraph of the announcement notes the creation of a migration team that will develop information about "viable solutions" and to develop migration tools and processes, along with certification and training "so that you will be ready when your Sage PRO customer is ready to migrate." The company will continue to sell products and add ons to happy users. However, Sage talked about developing migration tools to have the enlightened customer move to Accpac, MAS and the upcoming ERP X3 Standard Edition. I don’t recall hearing about the new X3 edition discussed, but it sounds like the path for PFW since both are aimed at the process manufacturing market. It’s always tough to move end users – remember, this is an organization which keeps developing for DacEasy even though it long ago stopped trying to actively promote it. The most important tool is likely to be a promised change in the way migration is priced. A internal announcement from Drew Macbeth, VP of sales, noted there will be a Sage Pro teleconference on the 21st or when Great Birnham Wood comes to high Dunsinane Hill whichever comes first.
