SAGE UNVEILS X3 VERSION 7 Featured

Alvaro Ramirez, SageSage's introduction of X3 Version 7 last week was a formality. The website for the product – the only Sage midmarket package with its own website – was already packed with V. 7 info. More attention was paid to what Sage's Europe CEO Alvaro Ramirez meant when he said, "Our brand is a disaster." I'm of the opinion he didn't mean it quite the way it sounds but why hand competitors a recruiting tool? The remarks suggest that the rebranding campaign of putting the word "Sage" in front of all products has not worked as well as hoped. Version 7 will be first rolled out in on-premise form next month.

Coverage from the Lisbon, Portugal, kick-off that I've seen  says it runs on Amazon Web Services and the press release ducks the issue, except to say there's a cloud interface. Among other major features is a dashboard to give users a view of their entire companies. I could not listen to the live broadcast and am still waiting for the promised link to the replay. Note: If your not-yet-departed CEO is not involved in the roll out and Alvarez says better branding is needed, maybe Guy Berruyer isn't resigning to do other things in life. Oh yeah, does the prominence Alvarez received signal he's the likely successor? Just remember, the new CFO has a private equity background.
