NET@WORK BUYS ADSS ABILA BIZ Featured

Robert Campbell, ADSS GlobalNet@Work, which is relatively new to the nonprofit business, this week expanded those operations by acquiring the Abila practice of ADSS Global. Based in New York City, Net@Work got into the market last year with the purchase of Huckstep & Associates, whose former owner, Jeannie Huckstep, is nonprofit practice director for Net@Work. The Abila nonprofit line, including Abila MIP Fund Accounting, was sold by Sage last year to Accel-KKR the investment firm that started Abila. Both Net@Work and ADSS are Sage resellers.

In a prepared statement, ADSS CEO Robert Campbell said the move is designed to enable his firm to concentrate on Sage 300, the former Accpac. Wonder if there's a mini-trend here for Sage dealers to concentrate on fewer products. Late in 2013, ISM sold its Sage 500 practice to RKL eSolutions. RKL is concentrating on 500, at a time when that product is believed to be headed for the sunset. However, RKL has done a lot of development work with 500. Abila resurrected the MIP name this year for what was for many years Sage 100 Fund Accounting. MIP comes from the company that originated the software, Micro Information Products, and which was acquired by Sage in September 2001. In a message late last month, Abila CEO Krista Endsley said her company had not expanded the number of resellers in the channel, but noted the entrance of Net@Work, Sage's largest VAR, into the program.
