RANDOM THOUGHTS: N.J.'S CHRIS CHRISTIE

Gov. Chris ChristieThe theater in my hometown, which plays less than first runs, is playing “How to Train Your Dragon 2”. Coming next is the far less successful and messier “How Not to Train Your Dragon”, a more disgusting affair. … The weight the New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has lost will be assembled and chosen as his vice presidential running mate in 2016. Well, there should be enough … It was so inspiring to see the Christmas decorations on sale in Lowe’s last week. It just put me in the holiday spirit. They could lengthen this and have festive banner proclaiming “Christmas Every Day”. (Apologies to Franz Kafka.)

… A place where auditors meet? An auditorium, of course. ... Noticed an article that the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is using a Salmon cannon to get the fish up stream. I guess the NRA’s position will be cannon don’t kill people, fish kill people.  Of course, now instead of tracking salmon by whether they are coho, sockeye or steelhead, we now also have to worry about whether they are .22, .38 or .45 caliber. … Meanwhile, a man who demanded a ransom for 37,000 pounds of frozen chickens has left the fowl-crammed tractor-trailer on the road to rot.  Apparently, a large number of chickens tried to cross the road and failed in a valiant attempt. I’m not surprised the company that owned the stiff fowl refused to pay ransom. “If you don’t give me the money, the chickens get it,” just doesn’t have a compelling ring. But as always, there’s a lesson here. If you don’t do want somebody wants, they may give you the birds.
