ORACLE TO HIRE 2,000 FOR CLOUD Featured

Oracle said this week it will hire nearly 2,000 employees for its Oracle Cloud Infrastructure business. The hiring is coupled with opening of new data centers and Gen 2 Cloud regions.

Oracle said the hiring will be accompanied by additional real estate investments. “Cloud is still in its early days with less than 20 percent penetration today, and enterprises are just beginning to use cloud for mission-critical workloads,” Don Johnson, EVP of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, said in a prepared statement. Oracle operates 16 regions, 12 of those opened in the last year. It plans to add 20 more regions by the end of 2020 with plans for 36 total. Employees will be hired in software development, cloud operations, and business operations to support the expansion of the infrastructure customer base, The company noted automated cloud security services, the launch of Autonomous Linux and new cloud data services as part of its cloud product expansion.
