Chairman Larry Ellison announced during this week’s webcast for earnings for the second quarter ended November 30 that, “We have no plans for a second CEO.” That seemed a change from comments he made in October about five executives at the software company Ellison said were suited for the position. Now, Ellison's position is “We have complete confidence in our existing management team. He told analysts there will be “a lot of announcements of the next level down” for hiring to develop future leaders “For when Safra and I retire, which is not anytime soon.” Catz has held the position has been with Oracle since 1999. She and Hurd were named co-presidents in 2010.

Oracle is not seeking an executive to replace the late Mark Hurd, the company’s co-CEO who died on October 19, the company said this week. That leaves Safra Catz in place as the sole CEO, after sharing the position from Septembe 2014 until Hurd's death.
