NETSUITE: SAGE USERS TIED TO DESKTOP Featured

NetsuiteNetSuite is not being subtle – is it ever? – in issuing a study that says Sage users are more tied to the desktop than the users of any other package. (I once knew a young lady who was tied to the desktop, but we won't get into that here.) NetSuite published a press release that reported a study conducted by YouGov "indicates that approximately three quarters of business leaders using Sage business software that were surveyed report having to access their business information from a desktop PC with client software installed, as opposed to through the cloud from any other device." YouGov, based in the United Kingdom, is described as a professional research and consulting organization.

The study was commissioned by NetSuite, following, I believe there's old business dictum about not releasing any study that you don't win or doesn't trash the competition. As categorized by the YouGov findings, 22 percent of ERP decision makers using Sage, are constrained to PCs, more than with any other software package involved in the survey while "only 13 percent of Sage customers say they're able to access their software through a browser".  In an interesting piece of mathematical rounding, 22 percent was described as being "almost a quarter." (I asked my wife, an applied math major, about this kind of rounding and she lifted both eyebrows to record levels.) The sample drew responses 531 decision makers whose titles were CEO, CFO, Owner, Vice President and those in senior and middle management roles. Sage said it has no comment.
