Give Sage credit for removing the letters "ERP" from the names of Sage 100, 300 and X3. There was no press release about 100 and 300, but the products were briefly addressed by chief technology officer Himanshu Palsule during a brief press briefing. Briefly includes the fact that questions asked were not reported and for those attending by conference call that was a difficulty as was the fact that the inaudible voice I heard must have been Klaus-Michael Vogelberg, Sage Group CTO, who was billed as one of the speakers. With Sage vigorously making sure journalists would not be allowed in reseller sessions, it seemed to have missed the point that quotes from happy resellers and happy users often appear in press releases to bolster a company's message about these products. OF 13 press releases that appear during the conference, only one quoted a reseller. That was an announcement of a program involving Sage Payments in which Alex Solomon, co-founder of Net@Work, was quoted. There were no statements from users or accountants.
SAGE ERP HITTING THE CLOUD Featured
Sage is moving major financial software products to the cloud. The SaaS version of X3 was made available this week, coinciding with the Sage Summit Conference. It is scheduled to be introduced into the United Kingdom during the summer and globally this year and next. Sage 100c and 300c are scheduled to hit the market in October. The new X3 can be deployed both in the cloud and on local services "or in an environment hosted by Sage certified partners—all with identical functionality and universal web and mobile access to their business management resources," according to the official press release.
