The referral program is designed to provide fees to those who funnel to SAP names of prospects who become customers. Cardenuto said fees range from 5 percent to 20 percent but said that all commissions are for the life for the customer. "We will provide them a cut from the sale for the life cycle of the customer," Cardenuto said. "If we have a customer for three years, you will have a revenue share for three years." And if a customer stays for 10 years, the referral continues to receive fees and so on. Variables in compensation include the value added by the referrer. The program is open to "any business that is involved in the small and midsize market," according to the official announcement. SAP has established a portal for managing referrals.
