Austin has been involved in ITA since 2003 and has served on its marketing and communications, ITA leadership alliance committee, and the Onsite committees. He has led the vendor member services outreach during ITA's twice annual meetings. He held public relations positions at the former SpeedTax and earlier rode acquisitions starting with the former SBT Accounting Systems, Accpac and then going from Softline to Sage via M&A. He also operated his own business, Austin Markets, from 2004 through March 2008.

Brian Austin, director of accountant and industry relations at Avalara, has been named to the board of directors of the Information Technology Alliance. Austin begins his three-year term next month. ITA is a two-pronged organization of accounting software resellers and consultants and the top 30 accounting firms, which I have generally described as the being the best and the brightest in the profession.
