Van der Meijden attributed that to the software "suffering from U.S. market issues" and "some slowness in investments from U.S. entrepreneurs in the manufacturing space", at least partly attributed to the budget impasse and healthcare. In last year's reorganization, Exact made the American units independent and said it was not providing funding to them. However, in September, Macola held a reseller event, Exact Edge, in Grapevine, Texas. There wasn't any news announced, other than the event had been held and that the company was committed to the channel. However, afterward, Macola managing director Alison Forsythe was reported to have "announced her vision to become the #1 market leader in the ERP software space ..." Van der Meijden, who said Forsythe “has made great progress”, reiterated the fact that Exact will not generally make new investments here, but is spending to improve the user interface in Macola and R&D investment in Job Boss. There is no extra money for expanding functionality and with Job Boss and Macola the company will help move the products to a hosted, subscription model

Exact is seeking to expand its channel growth. But given how independent the company's units are in the United Sates, it is difficult to pick out the corporate program versus what is happening in this country. In a recent third-quarter analyst call, CEO Erik van der Meijden said Exact is building new reseller programs. "We had a big increase in reseller channel revenue," he added. But that applies to the Business Solutions division, which does not operate here, while revenue from the U.S. manufacturing packages – Macola, Max, JobBoss – was off.
