Last month, it acquired Belgium-based VAT Applications NV. It has also been purchasing specialized tax companies and building out their product lines. Van Toor has responsibility for running day-to-day European operations, overseeing product marketing and management and integrating acquired products and companies.

Industry veteran David Van Toor has joined Avalara as GM of EMEA Operations. Van Toor had been a consultant with the sales-and-use tax application provider from November 2013 through May. He was VP and managing director of Australasian operations with Epicor Software from 1992 through 2001. Van Toor then moved to Sage where he remained from 2001 through April 2009.
