NETSUITE REPORTS PATENT TALKS
There’s nothing more to the information posted in NetSuite’s 10Q for the second quarter ended June 30 than one very general paragraph. But the way it’s written that has me believing this could prove to be very interesting. In the words of the document, "A large technology company has written us a letter alleging that we infringe some of their patents. We have subsequently met and discussed these patents with that party and they have requested that we negotiate a license for them of such patents and other patents within their patent portfolio."
No litigation has been filed. But this sounds potentially more serious than the other actual litigation reported in the SEC filing. I guess my reaction is if a large technology company contacted me this way, I'd be a bit concerned. Come to think of it, I’ve not seen this kind of entry in other SEC filings. Usually nothing is said unless a company is actually being sued.
