During his company's earnings Webcast this month,
NetSuite CEO
Zach Nelson went after the market status of SAP's Business By Design (as he often does). I held off the publishing these comments until I could get an SAP response. In answer to an analyst's question, Nelson commented, "It's being seen a lot in SAP shops and divisions of SAP shops. ... I don't really believe it's in production. ... While they may be showing it, I don't think they are selling a lot of it. ... I think we’ll see it in actual production next year."
SAP describes the product's status as follows: "SAP has achieved success with SAP Business By Design, as evidenced by customers mentioned in our latest earnings release and the activity with partners in the on-demand space, such as Vision33. SAP clearly communicated a step-by-step approach to volume to ensure that all components were ready for distribution. This included a volume-capable architecture which we achieved with feature pack 2.5 launched in August, a robust and active ecosystem that continues to expand, and customer and partner feedback that is continually incorporated into the solution."
