My knees are heading into the final sunset and I am looking for new ones. I found one facility that seemed affordable. But my wife was suspicious of the place—Fred's Knee Replacement and Oil Change Centers. Fred's advertising slogan is "We fill your every Kneed."

There was to be high-level food at the conference I was to attend. "How do you feel about foie gras and caviar? Do they have pigs in a blanket?" I replied. "Are we going to Dennys?" .... What happens in Las Vegas stays there burned to a crisp at 117 degrees.

The fiftieth anniversary of the release of "The Beatles" groundbreaking album, Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band" is being updated with the release of Sergeant Pepper's Assisted Living Band". It features remakes the album's songs including "I wish I was 64 again", "I'm Fixing a Hole and I Can't Get Up" and "Lovely Rita, Crossing Guard."

There's a sign on a street in Boonton, N.J., the next town over, warning "Heavy Pedestrian Crossing." Hey, why should they get special treatment? ... Just back from the SAP Sapphire conference in Orlando, Fla. Florida, many may not know, is not from Spanish as widely believed, but actually is a corruption of an old Native American word meaning "Giant Sinkhole".

A Montana State University professor sued Wal-Mart for libel alleging an employee at the Bozeman store listed his occupation on a fishing license as a "toilet cleaner." I don't know. Given the minds of some students he deals with, the other occupation probably covers some of the territory.

The local supermarket has a line of natural cat food. It appears to be very authentic—I found Fresh-killed Bird and Squashed Rat. There's also a natural dog food brand led by "Fresh Kitty Litter", what your dog really likes to eat. ... I told my wife she would know I was senile when I start drooling uncontrollably. "Who'd? know the difference," she retorted.

We finally figured out what President Trump's problem was with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Trump, who said Merkel had ruined Germany, thought the Merkel was the currency in use in her country. That came to light when he asked an advisor "How many Merkels to the dollar?" ... Republican Senators John McCain and Rand Paul have been feuding.

A Michelin star was accidentally awarded to a burger joint, "Le Bouche a Oreille" in Bourges, France. Diners who were attracted by the designation were somewhat suspicious of some dishes in the style “a la shingle”. … I have gotten to the point I don’t believe a word the media or politicians say and I have serious doubts about most of the things I say.

There were no prices on the menu at the fondue restaurant near the La Jolla Hyatt, always a danger sign. I asked the guy at the door, "Can you just pour some melted cheese in a cup and I'll just dip my fingers in it?." The place next door was no better. "I was looking at the price for your free-range chicken. Can I have something you didn't have to chase so far?"
