COLUMBUS US OFF 77% IN THREE YEARS Featured

Columbus keeps talking about a turnaround for its operations in the United States. But with revenue in this country down 12 percent for the first half ended June 30, its total is off 77 percent from the first half of 2017.

Services are off 75 percent for the same three years. Basically, the Dynamics reseller and developer bought some great operations in the United States, including the former Interdyn BMI, and lost most of what these groups had accomplished. U.S. revenue for the second quarter was approximately $11.3 million, down 15 percent from last year’s corresponding period. Maybe the company will realize at some point that its approach is not doing well in this country.  CFO Hans Henrik Thrane said the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting the turnaround in the U.S. He noted that company cut 13 employees, but added, “By the end of the quarter we saw and imp roved pipeline for the second half.” Overall, revenue fell 7 percent to about $73 million for the most recently ended period while first-half revenue of roughly $154.2 million was off 1 percent year-over-year. CEO Thomas Honoré said the M3 (former Lawson Software) business  had a specially tough time as M3 customers are large manufacturers that were impacted by the pandemic. Honoré said Columbus is preparing its new strategy and that the company is evaluating its options, including the possibility of divesting elements of the software company. Maybe the carcass of the North American business is under consideration
