While 47 of investment is for security and privacy, and cloud was the third-most important technology investment during this period, the number of IT leaders actively considering Distributed Cloud has jumped to 21 percent from 11 percent in 12 months.
The survey of more than 4,200 IT leaders found four out of 10 have experience more cyber attacks with 83 percent of those from phishing and 62 percent malware. The study authors says this suggests that “the massive move to home working has increased exposure from employees.”
However, security personnel is in short-supply with 35 precent saying that cyber security is the most in-demand technology skill in the world, the first time this category has topped the list of global technology skills shortages for more than a decade.
Like most other surveys about technology operations, this one reported remote working is here to stay. Eighty-six percent of IT leaders moved a significant part of their workforce to remote working and 43 percent of the total expect more than half of their employees will work from home after the pandemic.
Because of remote working, 70 percent report business and technology teams have increased collaboration and 52 percent report this has “created a culture of inclusivity in the technology team.”
