Sage cut the number of employees outside of its key markets by 26 percent last year, according to the company’s recently published annual report. The numbers support Sage’s report that it will sell four businesses outside of its core markets. 

These include operations in Poland and Switzerland, the South African payroll business, and businesses in Asia and. Australia, with the anticipated divestiture of the latter excluding Intacct, People and X-3.  For the year ended September 30, Sage had 2,228  employees outside of Europe and North America, down from 3005 at the end of fiscal 2019. With the company hiring in its other three regions, it ended fiscal 2020 with 12,506 on staff, a decrease of 2 percent from 12,755 at the end of the prior year. North America had 2592 employees last year, a rise of 1.6 percent from 2,551 the prior year.
