BLACKBAUD TRIMS OFFICE SPACE Featured

Blackbaud has closed most of its offices as it responds to the shift toward remote work. During its recent webcast for earnings for the year ended December, the company said it has closed most of its offices outside of its headquarters in Charleston, S.C.

The nonprofit software operation said it is opting for on-demand office and team space. “In addition, we'll use our headquarters office in Charleston, South Carolina for customer meetings, employee gatherings and team building,” CFO Tony Boor said during the webcast. The company took a charge of about $12 million in the fourth quarter for the restructuring and real estate charges. The statements reaffirm an announcement made in November about Blackbaud’s moving to a remote-first strategy for workers when the company said that the changes stemming from response to the COVID-19 pandemic had proven successful. At the time, Blackbaud said about 80 percent of those hired were in remote positions and that had increased its ability to acquire and retain the best talent, along with increasing diversity in the workforce.
