The new plan wipes out the ability for new partners to qualify for the current competency and badging program, although those that have a competency by September 22 will continue to receive legacy benefits until their next anniversary date. Then, will have to purchase legacy benefits. Microsoft describes the new program as simplified. One of the metrics is very simple—performance is measured by net customer adds. Training is encouraged by awarded points for each person on a team with specified certifications and customer success is judged by usage growth and number of successful deployments. A key element of the program is the creation of several Solutions Partner categories. To qualify, firms must accumulate points showing the capability of delivering products and services, in this case Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform. Those who have the proper training will be accredited in the category and will receive benefits that include “product benefits (IURs, cloud licenses, and Azure credits), go-to-market services, customer-facing badges, technical presales and deployment services, technical support, and eligibility to earn incentives.” The other specializations for Solutions Partners include security and modern work and two areas involving Azure—infrastructure and data and AI.
