DYNAMICS GP TURMOIL: THE IMPACT Featured

This month’s giant flare up at the community Summit about the future of Dynamics GP will probably have very predictable results. Everyone knew that GP has a limited future.

But then, VP Michael Morton said after this month’s release there would be no more new features other than payroll updates. That was three years earlier than expected. At an obscenity-laced channel meeting, Morton listened and then walked back the comments. There will be no new modules but there will be improvements to features including usability and he pointed to the ISV channel as providing development. What all this will probably do is have a percentage of the GP user base looking at other products, figuring, who knows if these comments stick, or Microsoft changes its mind. There will be a percentage of users locked into GP for years, but some companies have been put in play and those that cannot move easily to Dynamics Business Central will be kicking tires in the other ERP company lots.
