CANADA REVS DAMPEN ALITHYA Featured

A 2-percent decline in Canadian revenue held Dynamics reseller Alithya to a 3-percent rise in overall revenue for the first quarter ended June 30.

The net loss increased by 71 percent year-over-year which was impactedby an impairment charge of slightly more than $1 million. The company lost approximately $5.36 million on revenue of $97.9 million. The economy in Canada with particular softness in the banking sector, caused revenue to drop to about $57.3 million.  Revenue for the United States rose 11.2 percent to roughly $36.6 million. The rise was largely attributable to the addition of $3.6 million in the U.S. revenue of the Datum Consulting Group just over a year ago. U.S. revs were harmed by the economy in this country but helped by the exchange rate. There was also softness in the learning services market in the U.S. During Alithya’s recent earnings webcast, CEO Paul Raymond said the quarter was a record one for bookings for both its Oracle and Microsoft enterprise practice. Raymond pointed to strength in the manufacturing market which he said had been helped by advances in Microsoft’s products for that sector.
