XERO CREATES CHIEF DATA OFFICER POST Featured

Tony Stewart, XeroXero has named Tony Stewart to the newly created position of chief data officer. The New Zealand-based cloud accounting software company says in this new role Stewart will be responsible for accelerating automation, business systems roll out and big data innovation. The hiring follows last month's phishing episode in which the company said  a small number of users tricked of customers were tricked into disclosing their Xero logons.

Xero then issued an email telling its users to reset passwords. The company said an audit by KPMG gave it a clean bill of health. Stewart was previously group CEO of Intergen, a Microsoft systems integrator. He founded the company in 2001 and it was purchased by Australia-based Empired last year. At the time, Intergen had a staff of 370 and annual revenue of $60 million Australian.
