OPEN SYSTEMS BUYS PROCESS PRO Featured

Joe Blauert, Process ProOpen Systems has acquired Process Pro, a step which shows the Minneapolis, Minn.-based company is capable of surprises. I don’t remember Open Systems ever buying another ERP software vendor, much less two in a month. It announced the purchase of SouthWare Innovations on December 29. The two deals have something in common: both of the acquired companies have been around quite a while.

SouthWare was founded in 1984 and EMR Software Innovations in 1985, being rebranded as Process Pro in 1998.  And it’s safe to say neither of the purchased organizations were household words in the financial software business. Terms were not disclosed in either case. Based in St. Cloud, Minn., Process Pro will continue to develop and market applications for the process manufacturing industries such as food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, cosmetics  and specialty chemicals. Open Systems says the deal will enable the Process Pro division to expand into more geographies. ProcessPro is led by CEO Joe Blauert, who joined the organization in 2009. He held a series of jobs with HighJump Software starting in March 1998 and ended his career there as CFO from April 2005 through June 2006.
