SAGE CONDUCTS USER PRICE SURVEY

Sage Price SurveySage North America is conducting a survey of about 500 users about software pricing as it readies a change in pricing strategy. The company wants to know how much customers would be willing to pay per user per month for its applications. The grapevine has it that a customer who now pays about $8,000 per year would see maintenance rise to more than $40,000 per year.

The survey gave price options of $75, $100 and $125 per user per month and also offered "none of the above" as a choice. In an all-hands partner call of October 28, Sage said it would be talking about new pricing in three months and would implement it in a year. With new names coming for all products in this country, a new pricing model would mean a sharp turn from the way things had been done. Since an active survey link did not come my way, I cannot describe all the questions and answers. Another note  from Sage said that there would be a new Financials Bundle at a lower price for Sage 100, a new Distribution Bundle priced similarly to MAS 200 and the elimination of a price premium for SQL that went into effect March 1. There is supposed to be an increase in module-based pricing for Sage 100, 200 and 500 although Sage anticipates more interest in user-based pricing for the Financials Bundle since module-based pricing will be set at a premium. This is for new customers, not for existing Business Care customers.
