NUVEI TO GO PRIVATE Featured

Private equity firm Advent International is acquiring payments software company Nuvei at $34 a share.

The deal values the company at approximately $6.3 billion. Advent will co-own the company along with three Canadian shareholders, CEO Philip Fayer, Novacap and CDPQ, who will control about 24 percent, 18 percent and 12 percent of the shares each of the private company. These shareholders will be paid about $650 million to roll their shares as part of the deal. Nuvei’s product lines include the former Paya which it purchased last year for $1.4 billion. Nuvei reported revenue of $1.19 billion for the year ended December 31, 41.1 percent higher than the $843.3 million for the prior year. It lost $696,000 in 2023, compared to net income of slightly less than $62 million in 2022. Paya contributed $262.6 million in revenue for 2023.
