Jim Clemens, SouthWare InnovationsOpen Systems has acquired SouthWare Innovations, a financial software provider based in Auburn, Ala. No terms were disclosed as both companies are privately held. SouthWare was been around for a while—it was formed in 1984 by Jim Clemens, who has been its CEO since then. Open Systems, based in the Minneapolis, Minn., area, says SouthWare will continue to enhance its software and also market its software products.

The companies say SouthWare has 32 applications that address wholesale distribution, point-of-sale, equipment sales and service, as well as targeted applications for team sports, overhead doors and food processing. Several years ago, SouthWare was said to have 100 dealers. Among its current reseller base are Advanced Systems Group of Tulsa, Okla.; Aris Solutions of Crescent Springs, Ky.; ChipTech Solutions, Coral Springs, Fla.; Exerve of Norcross, Ga.; and Florida Business Software Solutions of Clearwater, Fla. Not many more came up on various searches.
