One reseller said that SAP had not been supporting the channel ByD effort for months The milk cartoons with the name ByD on them had been on the shelves for some time. There was another sign out there – in the last two weeks I noticed that the SAP Partner Finder had been changed so that ByD no longer was longer one of the products for which it was possible to search for resellers. When I conducted a regular search, I came up with 18 VAR organizations, down from a couple of months ago, PR gave me the official story that the only thing going on was some minor retooling of the website. Oh well, somewhere, NetSuite CEO Zach Nelson is saying, "I told you so." SAP, however, said that Hana has become the platform all of its products and is not just a database and cited ByD and Business One as being supported by the platform.

Just how alive SAP's much-trumpeted Business By Design is remains a subject of debate after SAP released its third-quarter results. Trade publications in Germany and here were declaring the product dead with one saying SAP has stopped active development of the cloud product. But in this week's earnings webcast, co-CEO Bill McDermott said that ByD will become part of the Hana platform and "will continue to be promoted and actively supported" and will continue to be sold through SAP channel.
