SAP has introduced Business By Design feature pack 2.6 which the company said serves as an open platform on which “a broad ecosystem of partners can further customize the software”.  The company said 2.6 also serves as a platform on which SAP will develop new on-demand offerings “for various lines of business.” That latter might better be phrases as industry segments or verticals, I suppose.
