The best way to measure the interest in virtualization technologies is to look at VMware's financial results for the second quarter ended June 30. In a not-so-hot economy, the company more than doubled net income on a 47.9-percent increase in revenue. Earnings were $74.5 million in the quarter, an increase of 129 percent over $32.5 million in the year earlier second quarter.
