PLUMBLINE CONSULTING BUYS PROGRESSIVE

Carolyn Jasiulewicz, Progressive Systems SolutionsJust to confuse things, Plumbline Consulting has acquired Progressive Systems Solutions. This is not the Plumbline Solutions that became Solomon Cloud Solutions, noted elsewhere in this newsletter. It's a consulting and reselling firm owned by Jim Bowman and Joe Longo, owners of the SBS Group. The companies did have a relationship: Plumbline Consulting was spun out of Plumbline Solutions about six years ago.

UECKER-RUST BACK AT SAGE

Jodi Uecker-Rust, SageJust as we thought all the Microsoft channel veterans were clearing out of Sage, the company has announced it has rehired Jodi Uecker-Rust. Uecker-Rust is returning on June 8 as interim president of Sage North America. That follows the recent departure of Pascal Houillon as CEO of Sage Americas. With her and Sage CEO Stephen Kelly in place, we have the potential of a Summit keynote in which we don't have people tittering over the word "focus".

PLUMBLINE NOW SOLOMON CLOUD SOLUTIONS

Gary Harpst, Solomon Cloud Solutions Plumbline Solutions, developer of Dynamics SL, has turned to the past to rename itself. The company has become Solomon Cloud Solutions, still based in Findlay, Ohio, home of the former Solomon Software. So let's just get the issue out in public—what does this mean for the future ownership of the product currently known as Dynamics SL and owned by Microsoft? Solomon co-founder, Gary Harpst, who is serving as chairman of the renamed company says the renaming does not reflect on any looming change in ownership. In response to the question, Harpst said the name change is because "When there are major platform/market transitions opportunity abounds. We are moving aggressively across our family of businesses to leverage this transition."

XERO INTROS DASHBOARD, APPLE LINK

Rod Drury, XeroCloud accounting software vendor Xero introduced a business performance dashboard and integration with the Apple iOS at Xerocon now underway in Denver, Colo. The dashboard provides eight core performance metrics and more than 20 in Australia and New Zealand. It enables users to click on a graph to determine how metrics were calculated and the source of information. Xero says the dashboard can also take advantage of big data and more tools will be delivered.

NETSUITE HIRES ASIA CHANNEL CHIEF

Burt Graeme, NetSuiteNetSuite has hired Burt Graeme as channel sales director for Asia Pacific and Japan. Based in Sydney, Australia, Graeme  is responsible for growing the channel staff in that part of the globe. He also manages NetSuite's partners in three sub-regions: Australia/New Zealand, Asia and Japan. Graeme was previously BMC Software's country manager for Australia and New Zealand for enterprise solutions from October 2013 through December 2014.

AVALARA BUYS TELCO TAX COMPANY

Tim Lopatofsky, EZtaxAvalara has acquired EZtax, which makes tax compliance products for the telecommunications industry. The company's software, also called EZtax, calculates and files taxes due on such services in the United States and Canada. Terms were not disclosed. The move was the latest by Bainbridge Island, Wash.-based Avalara to purchase companies that make specialized indirect tax applications. In March, the sales and use tax vendor bought Hotspot, which made tax applications for the vacation rental industry. EZtax was founded by CEO Tim Lopatofsky.

ACUMATICA NAMES COO, CMO

Kathy Visser-May, AcumaticaAcumatica has named Kathy Visser-May as chief marketing officer; and Nigel LeGresley as chief operating officer. Stijn Hendrikse was the cloud software company's first CMO and served from March 2012 until he left for a sister company in May 2014. A Microsoft veteran, like many Acumatica leaders, Visser-May was senior director for the IT Pro Audience and Platform Evangelism Team from July 2012.

SAGE'S COMMUNICATION SILOS

Steve Kelly, SageSage CEO Steve Kelly has been keeping up a blog on his company's site. And that's something that is hard for executives to do with regularity. But it's not available on the North American site. In April, Sage named Antoine Henry as global VP of product marketing, announcing it only in French. Sage talks of ending its country-by-country operation. PR has not been touched. And there often does not seem to be an effort to create publicity for the company and its products. Asked about the X3 sales conference recently in Istanbul, a Turkey,a PR person replied there was no news. There's no "but we can arrange an interview, now, at Summit," about those topics.

GRAVITY 2015 INTRODUCED

John Silvani, Gravity SoftwareGravity 2015 has been introduced by Gravity Software. Debuting, this month, the cloud-based application is built on Dynamics CRM Online and is aimed at providing integrated financials and CRM capabilities on that platform. Gravity was founded by president, John Silvani, who operated the former First Tech Direct Microsoft software reseller. The Financials element offers a flexible chart of accountants, budgeting and analysis and an advanced reporter writer. The company is offering a free 30-day trial.
