EPICOR RAMPS UP CHANNEL SUPPORT Featured

Sally Craig, Epicor SoftwareEpicor Software is increasing investment in its channel. The effort stems from one of the strategies adopted under private equity firm KKR, which purchased the Austin, Texas-based company in July. "You don't expand globally as a software company without very strong partners," CEO Joe Cowan said in a conference call this week.

Channel investments focus both on what Epicor calls channel A (resellers) and channel B (ISVs). The company seeks to develop verticals on top of its Epicor 10 platform. While Cowan termed Epicor "agnostic" when it comes to selling on-premise or cloud software, emphasis on building out specialized markets on top of a financial package is something that is increasingly common. Sally Craig, who has served as director of channels in the United States, was described as the person "slotted to focus on the channel" although I did not hear a new title mentioned during the call. "We have launched a new support program," Craig said in outlining major channel initiatives. That program, Epicare, was described as being down to the last two of seven areas and should be fully implemented in 60 to 90 days. That includes the development of a online knowledge base for all Epicor products and a system that can handle assignment of job tickets worldwide. Craig said training is very important and some elements will be retooled. Field-level staffers have also been added to support the channel.
