SHOULD (WILL) SAGE RENAME LINE? Featured

sageThe headline probably seems like a dumb question, given all the rebranding Sage has done. However, it only refers to the company's strategic products, Live, Intacct and X-3.

It grows out of conversation with Scott Ehman, Sage's VP of partner strategy and sales this week. It's probably something   I misunderstood; thinking at one point he referred to Sage Accounting and Sage Enterprise. I asked a brief question—not as precise as it should have been, and moved on. I thought for a moment he meant X-3 would become Sage Enterprise. That name makes sense as it would convey something as opposed to X-3, which evokes what image? An experimental airplane? And Sage Live? Is that like "Live with Kelly and Ryan"? Live says little. Sage Accounting would say a lot. I think we are already there with Sage Business Cloud, a name with real meaning. Look at the on-premise product names: Even though they are architecturally disparate products and do not evoke a meaning, Sage 50, 100, 300, 500 suggest there is a logical progression for the buyer to follow. They say something, at least. Now while Accounting, Business Cloud and Enterprise don't immediately suggest a continuous line, they convey a message about the product. Hmm, maybe that is what Sage is doing?
