MICROSOFT DUMPING ORACLE DATABASE

Tucked into the announcement of a connector between Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics AX and a Data Migration Assistant for Microsoft Dynamics AX was the flat out statement that the Dynamics AX 2012 release will exclusively use SQL Server.  Hence the migration assistant, which is billed as using a wizard for each step of the process “making it quick, easy and cost-effective to use.”

The 2012 release is scheduled for the third quarter. Microsoft also has a site listing the benefits for making the database switch and compares SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 11G. It’s a six-point test in which Microsoft clearly wins all but one issue (and that appears to be shown as a tie.) Connectors are available for Dynamics GP and NAV and a connector for Dynamics SL and CRM is planned for the second half of the year. And doesn’t this contrast nicely with the SAP push for openness?
