ACTIVANT EXECS LEAD EPICOR

Pervez QureshiThe merger of Activant and Epicor under the latter’s name has led to a company led by two senior executives from the former. With Epicor CEO George Klaus stepping aside to remain as chairman, his former spot was taken by Activant CEO Pervez Qureshi. Qureshi, who was president and CEO of Activant from 2006, served as COO and EVP starting in 2004. He is joined in the executive suite by CFO Kathy Crusco, who moves into the same spot with the combined companies. She joined Activant in May 2007.

That would seem to leave Michael Pierini, Epicor’s CFO before the merger, as the odd man out. It’s doubtful much of this has a great impact on the channel. Activant doesn’t have one and Epicor’s is rather limited in terms of Epicor 9, which fits the classic mid-market accounting software mold more than the products it marketed before that package’s introduction three years ago when Epicor was playing primarily in the manufacturing segment. Since equity investors like Apax Partners, which purchased the two ERP vendors, look for profits and mergers usually produce some layoffs, we should see some action there.
