NEW EPICOR CHANNEL FRIENDLY?

Pervez QureshiWith Epicor and Activant now combined under what is increasingly the Activant management, the question is, "What kind of company is Epicor?"  That's especially important since Epicor was building its channel and Activant was a direct-sales company. Reports from a few resellers who have met with the new CEO Pervez Qureshi are encouraging. "I have concern with the number of management people that are leaving," said Sheldon Kralstein, CEO of Clients First Business Solutions.
However, he noted that after some staffers saw the new Epicor management last month at the vendor’s Momentum conference. "The guys came back with a very positive opinion," he said. Another Epicor dealer, who did not want to be quoted by name, said that, "While Activant took a direct sales approach, Pervez has some extensive background with channels in his past. He gets it. I can confidently say most of the channel partners left the meeting feeling positive about the future." The box score for the management change is as follows; Qureshi took over for George Klaus, who stayed as chairman. Lori Klaus, the former CEO’s wife, left in May after running sales and service. James Norwood, SVP of worldwide product marketing, left last month to become chief marketing officer at Kana Software. Besides Qureshi, the Activant regime now running Epicor includes Kathy Crusco, who kept the CFO title when she moved over; Kevin Roach, EVP of wholesale distribution and Paul Salsgiver, EVP retail. Roach and Salsgiver had similar titles with Activant. The only Epicor veteran shown on the company's executive team page is chief marketing officer John Hiraoka.
