is continuing to push the GP base to Dynamics 365 Business Central. In addition, after April 1, 2025, BC on-premises will be sold to new customers only through subscription licensing. Microsoft is holding out both on-premises and cloud versions as options for GP customers. This announcement seems to be the next move after statements at  October’s Dynamics Community summits. At a session there, Mike Morton, VP of Dynamics 365 Business Central, said only GP payroll updates would be issued from that month on and no new updates or major innovation would be made to GP. That drew an angry response from the channel and Microsoft backpedaled. Whether that announcement was a mistake or trial balloon, the end of GP was anticipated for 2025. Despite the BC push, there is a general agreement in the channel that BC is not a migration path for many GP customers, for whom such a change would be very difficult.
