INFOR LOADS UP ON TALENT

Infor, which markets specialized ERP applications, is continuing to hire executives in what is clearly a major move by the company, a move to where is hard to tell, but a move. In November, it named Robert Humphrey as Chief Marketing Officer.
Taylor Macdonald joined to be vp of worldwide channels late in 2009. Last week, it added Bruce Richardson, most recently chief research officer at AMR Research, as chief strategy officer. It’s working to build a channel and a more cohesive channel program. It’s gotten more aggressive in advertising. If you look at its product line up, all of those acquired packages now fall under some unified names. When I see companies on this path, the first thing that comes to mind is that they are preparing for a stock offering. Infor, which is owned by Golden Gate Capital, has an estimated $2.7 billion in revenue and that's a lot for a private company in this space. But with Golden Gate, that's not necessarily the path and the firm notes it has been one of the most active in public-to-private transactions. However, many of the public-to-private purchases it shows on its Web page are now part of Infor, so they weren't going public anyway.
