SMB RESEARCH GROUP FORMS

A new research organization, the SMB Group, has formed to provide research, analysis and consulting services for vendors serving the SMB technology market. It was founded by analysts Sanjeev Aggarwal and Laurie McCabe. McCabe has been an attendee at many conferences held by ERP vendors over the years.  She spent five years at AMI Partners and is also an affiliate analyst for Hurwitz & Associates.
Aggarwal is also an alum of AMI. The site links to some blogs written by the partners that includes interesting material written before the organization debuted and one of them might intrigue midmarket resellers, a July prognosis for SAP’s BusinessByDesign, which should probably get an update soon.  More recent blog posts include Aggarwal’s “Mid-Market CPM Requirements and Vendor Selection Criteria” and  McCabe’s “A Closer Look–Dell Managed Services for SMBs” and perhaps of more interest, “Microsoft–Still Relevant, But No Longer Dominant Redux.” Calling Microsoft more an imitator than innovator, McCabe wrote that “While I don’t think Microsoft is on a path to extinction, it is does appear to be suffering from a similar mindset that led to these dinosaurs’ eventual irrelevance and/or demise.”
