IBM CHANNEL BAFFLED BY SOCIAL MEDIA

In case you thought you were the only one who can't figure out how to use social media for business effectively, IBM this week released a survey that shows you are not. A survey of 1,000 partners worldwide found 45 percent are experimenting with social media business strategy to generate new revenue streams. But three quarters of those are uncertain how to use it as an effective sales tool.

That also leaves 55 percent either not using social media, or perhaps picking, "Don’t know. Don't care." Seventy-four percent are looking for education about the topic. The press release didn't say precisely when the survey was conducted, but conveniently there was enough time for the Armonkians to respond with a new educational program about social media for channel members. Speaking of education, I first did a search to find the press section and after a lot of thinking concluded I could get there by clicking "About IBM" at the bottom of the home page, and then clicking "IBM Communities" before researching a link to the press page.
