HIGHTOWER SIGNS WITH SYSPRO

Jeff RosengardenHightower, a Chicago-area reseller that is one of Sage's larger resellers, has added Syspro's software to a mix that has previously been largely Sage. The Syspro line was added because of its well-known strength in manufacturing. CEO Jeff Rosegarden also likes the attention he got from Syspro. "Syspro is like the State of the Art of old. It’s 250 people who care about you," he says. He notes that Syspro trained his staff; something he said had never happened at SOTA or its successor, Sage, and that Syspro was involved in every deal.

"Syspro is willing to accommodate the [end users] budget to get a deal." Rosengarden says there were three other Sage VARs in his training session, but he declined to name them. He also reports that his company's May acquisition of MD Technical Services, which had specialized in NetSuite, had produced better results than the previous Hightower NetSuite effort. Syspro declined to reveal the names of any of its new dealers and the rumors I heard will remain rumors to protect those who might have change their minds. If you remember SugarCRM's disputed claim that it signed the No. 1 resellers for Sales SalesLogix and Act, the open source vendor still picked up some good Sage VARs. And one friend said most Sage resellers are looking elsewhere. However, I'm not sure much of the Microsoft channel is in less turmoil since unless you are a large volume VAR, you are probably in danger of termination anyway and should be considering your future.
