VENDORS READY RETAIL LAUNCHES

This week’s conference of the National Retail Federation served as the platform for vendors to announce a variety of retail applications.  This included Dynamics AX for Retail 2.0, the Microsoft product that benefits from a heavy dose of two European reseller applications that it purchased in 2009. The application offers Retail Role Centers, expanded scenarios and centralized management for loyalty programs, new interfaces for assortment and item management and new localizations and translations for use in more countries.

The release will be available next month. Epicor rolled out multi-channel transaction adapter, Enterprise Store Central that can handle POS and enterprise sales functions across stores and channels, particularly handling business both in store and online. There’s also a store administration interface for centralized configuration management. Infor made available the CRM Epiphany Shopping Advisor, which automatically recommends products and relevant special offers to site visitors, based on the products they view, purchase, search for, add to wish lists or place in shopping carts. SAP introduced a new version of SAP Promotion Management for Retail 7.1 which enables users to create multi-channel promotions, which, when the PR puffery is removed, is best described as letting all parties see the same promotion plan and data. It also has a forecasting engine so that retailers can forecast profitability for each promotion.
