SAGE PUTS OUT YEAR-END UPDATES

Paul Ziliak, XkzeroSage North America has been busy in December with the release of important product updates - most recently Sage 100 ERP 2013 with Sage 500 ERP 2013 and SalesLogix 8.0 coming earlier in the month. There is one notable feature, Visual Process Flows available in both accounting software packages. The company could have done a better job in pointing this out - in fact, it simply issued separate press releases.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say "Silo thinking." The graphical interface is spelled better in the 100 press release than in the 500 version. VPF illustrates steps required to complete tasks. Having this in both Sage 100 and 500 raises the issue whether VPF will be introduced elsewhere. Both ERP releases also push processing credit card payments through Sage Exchange. One feature is that users can utilize only Sage Exchange; not any other processor. Paul Ziliak, an officer of MicroAccounting/xkzero, said, “ I will say that we have many customers using Sage payment services and most if not all are very happy with the service and support – and the solution is very easy to implement which was not always the case with PC Charge.” I’ve talked with only two VARs, but still conclude this will be a popular move. Sage 100 also gets improved integration with Sage CRM and an Enhanced Sage Intelligence Report Designer, with new drag-and-drop features and improvement performance through in-memory processing.
