MICROSOFT TO HIT ROAD WITH GP Featured

Microsoft is going on an eight-city tour between January 29 and March 3 on what it terms the Now & Next Tour. The jaunt is designed to show the 60 new features in the combined Service Pack 1 and 2 releases of Dynamics GP, along with the new Business Analyzer App. That's the Now part. The Next segment involves discussion of "the current and future direction of Microsoft Dynamics GP." (Is Microsoft suggesting there might be a change?).

The boys and girls on the bus (well, there's no bus, just a bunch of Microsoft offices) are from the R&D and Field teams. Formally, the topics include what is new since the release of Dynamics GP 2013 and what is coming in the second half of this year in Dynamics GP 2013 R2. The general outlines for the Next features encompass "Workflow, Identity Management, and More" (and more is one of my favorite features in any product) and a service-based architecture. Sessions are available for business leaders, practice managers, presales and consultants. There's discussion of the cloud, but nothing to suggest public cloud is on the way. A couple of weeks ago, I asked a CEO friend of mine about complaints I've heard from users that Microsoft has not invested much in GP since its acquisition 12 years ago. "Ain't that the truth," he replied. In any event, the King is dead, long live the king, which will be outlined in Dallas, Texas; Tampa, Fla.; Irvine, Calif.; Reston, Va.; New York City; Seattle, Wash.; Downers Grove, Ill.; and Atlanta, Ga.
