In a prepared statement, Vertex SMB VP David Henkin said, “They (Cargas) were instrumental in our entrance into the Microsoft Dynamics GP space as the builders of our connector for Microsoft Dynamics GP.” Given the company’s previous lack of energy, the fact that it is actively promoting these signings is probably as important as the deals themselves in indicating a new level of activity. McGladrey took over the No. 1 spot in Bob Scott’s Top 100 VARs this year, aided both by the purchase of Tectura North America by UXC Eclipse and its own growth to $110.5 million. Cargas came in at No. 48 with $8.3 million.

CARGAS SIGNS WITH VERTEX Featured
Following last week’s item that McGladrey has signed with Vertex SMB comes the news the sales-tax vendor has signed Cargas Systems. Maybe it’s time to start paying attention to those folks. These two VAR deals are two more than we have seen from Vertex which is pushing its TaxCentral for small and medium-size companies with the tag line “The Most Trusted Name in Tax Now Available in Your Size” on its home page.
