Kim Eaton. ApteanAptean, which markets the Ross and Made2Manage systems, has purchased Verdiem, which makes energy management software for IT devices. Verdiem's products are designed to reduce power consumption for PCs and Macs and network and print devices. Aptean CEO Kim Eaton says the deal is designed to strengthen the company's enterprise application line.

Verdiem is described as providing "a unified approach for IT device data collection, policy management, administration and analytics." The acquired unit will operate under the name Verdiem, an Aptean company, and its products will be offered with the Aptean service and support line. Verdiem says it was instrumental in the development and deployment of Intel AMT/vPro and Cisco EnergyWise. Verdiem is backed by the well-known investment group, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
