SAP'S HANA GOING DOWNSTREAM

Eric Duffaut, SAPSAP is holding a press call next week in which it will provide an overview of its plans to take its Hana in-memory database technology downstream. Okay, the company did not say exactly that.

But I assume this event is not going to be held to say there are no plans to take Hana into products for small business and midsize companies.  Hana has been a sizzling hot technology for SAP. The company had $207 million in revenue from that source in 2011 even though it was generally available only in the last two quarters. And the company's discussions regarding how much in-memory technology speeds up things, the whole market should be interested in hearing the message. Speaking to the press will be Eric Duffaut, president of global ecosystem & channels and Bobby Vetter, SVP, ecosystem and channels readiness. With the word "channels" appearing in both men's titles, it would seem probable that there some products are coming. Or given the word ecosystem, maybe they are going to talk about the impact of pollution on wetlands. Who knows?
